From Hard to Understand to Lives Transformed
In the heart of Kasua—a predominantly Muslim community in Ghana—Pastor John Ketemepy is seeing lives transformed every week.
As the Lead Pastor of Sight of God Ministries, his mission has always been clear: reach young people through street preaching and school evangelism. And despite the challenges, the ministry has faithfully gone out into streets and classrooms, sharing the hope of the Gospel where it is least expected.
But for a long time, something held them back.
Before: The Struggle to Understand
“We were using the KJV,” Pastor John explains. “But understanding Scripture was hard.”
The language barrier made it difficult—not just for new believers, but especially for students. In street preaching settings, where attention is already limited, complex English made it even harder to hold focus, communicate clearly, and help listeners truly grasp God’s Word.
Even in church, it was a challenge.
“The issue was understanding,” he says. “It was difficult to retain verses and harder to share sermons clearly.”
Because of You: Clarity That Changes Everything
Because of you, that story is changing.
Through the God’s Word for Africa programme, Pastor John’s ministry received NLT Africa Edition Bibles—bringing clarity, simplicity, and accessibility to the Word of God.
Now, Scripture is easier to understand, easier to teach, and easier to remember.
“It is sweeter to follow and understand the sermon,” Pastor John shares. “And much easier to recall.”
But the impact goes even further.
Because of the affordability of the Bibles, the ministry has been able to stretch their resources—continuing and even expanding their outreach into schools.
Reaching Schools. Shaping Lives.
In their most recent distribution, 300 NLT Text Bibles were placed into the hands of students and teachers across six locations—including both private and public schools such as Omega Schools, as well as churches like Youth of Christ Apostolic.
And the results have been immediate.
One teacher shared:
“Since the time you gave the Bibles, we have seen real commitment. Sunday school has grown by 40 students. As they learn the Word of God more deeply, they are developing commitment and community and they are now helping build the church.”
At Amazing Love Junior Secondary School, the principal has witnessed transformation firsthand:
“Through Pastor John’s mission work, the students now have hope that God can change their lives. There is more Bible study, a change in behavior, and growth in their faith and understanding of God’s promises.”
Even beyond spiritual growth, the impact is holistic:
“Reading the Bible has made them more brilliant. Their English has improved and they are now more eloquent.”
From the Classroom to the Home
The transformation doesn’t stop at school.
Because students now have their own Bibles, they are taking God’s Word home with them.
Instead of spending hours watching television, many are now choosing to read Scripture—growing in their understanding, learning how to pray, and stepping into their own role in God’s mission.
They are being equipped—not just for today, but for the future.
A Bigger Vision for the Next Generation
Pastor John carries a powerful vision:
To help young people discover their purpose early.
“The dream,” he says, “is for them to learn their assignment early—so they are not drawn into wayward paths, but instead have more time to make a greater impact.”
In a continent where many come to faith later in life, this early foundation is critical. It means more years of influence, deeper roots in faith, and a stronger generation of leaders for the Church in Africa.
Because of You
Because of you, young people in Kasua are understanding God’s Word clearly.
Because of you, students are growing in faith, confidence, and purpose.
