An estimated 200 million Christians in Africa do not have a Bible of their own. These range from students just beginning to shape their faith to pastors leading growing congregations.

The Gerard & Judith Smith Bible Scholarship Fund has partnered with Oasis to solve this crisis by providing Bibles, free of charge, to those with the greatest financial need from schoolchildren in Bible clubs to pastors receiving training in ministry and evangelism.

With our combined effort, thousands of men and women, boys and girls in Africa will have a deeper understanding of the Bible, Jesus, and their faith in daily life.

Partnering with Gerard and Judy and organizations on the ground throughout Africa, you can directly equip pastors and church leaders with contextually relevant resources created specifically for them from their unique perspectives.

Provide School Children with Bibles

Torch-Ministries-Nov-2021

With half of the population of Africa estimated to be under 19, after-school Bible clubs, like those offered by Edify, AWANA, Scripture Union and others, offer an incredible opportunity to ground the future generation in the Word of God. These young men and women are discovering essential biblical truths but lack the most fundamental tool of all, a Bible of their own to freely read and use. These will be the ones to transform the future of Africa and you can equip them by putting the first Bible they will ever own in their hands.

Empower Pastors with Study Bibles

ARU graduates

Leaders in Africa are sacrificially serving in rural churches, many of which face financial hardships, impacting the pastor’s income. The pastors’ families share the same economic challenges as the rest of the village, which can put the cost of desperately needed, biblical resources out of their reach. Help us to empower the knowledge of pastors and Bible students with the Africa Study Bible – the most ethnically diverse, single-volume biblical resource ever created and specifically designed for teachers and pastors.

Equip Spiritual Leaders with Mini Libraries

WordSpread Training in Malawi

Many have heard that Africa has the fastest growing church in the world, which is amazing! However, local leaders lack essential and relevant resources to adequately train up these new believers. This leads to a crisis in effective discipleship where concerns like combining traditional religions with the Christian faith or falling into the trap of the prosperity gospel can be commonplace. Your support of these mini libraries can make all the difference.

Containing the Africa Study Bible for the leaders, basic easy-to-understand Bibles for new believers, a selection of contextually relevant resources including books like Conflict Resolution in the Church and Raising Up Good Stewards to support their spiritual growth, and training on evangelism and basic discipleship, with your support we can see the church in Africa grow as deep as it is wide.
